iToro vs Hallow
Reviewed August 27, 2026. Written by Lawrence Adjah, who builds iToro, so read this as an informed argument rather than a neutral review. Every claim about Hallow is sourced from Hallow's own public materials, linked at the bottom.
A note before the detail. We do not think of the other apps on this page as rivals. Everyone building here is trying to help people pray, and that is the same work. This page exists because someone deciding where to spend their attention deserves a straight account of what each one actually does, including the parts where the other app is the better answer.
Short answer
These two are not doing the same job, and most people who want both should have both. Hallow is the strongest guided audio prayer library in the category, especially for Catholic practice. iToro is not a content library at all: it connects you with another human being who prays for you out loud. If you want structure, teaching and a daily practice, Hallow. If you want not to be alone in something, iToro.
The one-line difference
On iToro every prayer is a human voice, and it works both ways: live one-to-one audio with a real person, and recorded voice prayers you can replay. There is no text-only prayer to send or receive.
As of August 27, 2026, of the prayer apps we reviewed for this page — Hallow, Glorify, Pray.com, Echo Prayer, PrayerMate, Send A Prayer and Spoken Prayers — none combine live one-to-one audio prayer with asynchronous voice prayer, and none make voice the only modality. Send A Prayer and Spoken Prayers do let you record a prayer and send it to someone, so iToro is not the only app with voice prayers; neither offers live prayer with a person. The rest are guided content libraries or text prayer lists. If you find a counterexample, tell us and we will correct this page.
What each one actually is
Hallow is a guided audio prayer and meditation app. Its own features page describes guided sessions in lengths from one to sixty minutes, offline downloads, a prayer journal, habit tracking with streaks and reminders, and prayer families for sharing intentions and reflections. It is rooted in Catholic practice, with a large and well produced content library.
iToro has no content library. What it has is people. You ask for prayer and a real person prays for you, either live over audio or as a recorded voice prayer you can replay. Churches, small groups and campuses get private spaces where requests stay inside the community.

What this page does not claim
Hallow is very good at what it does, and nothing here suggests otherwise. We are not claiming iToro has a better content library, because iToro has no content library. We have not compared audio production quality, catalogue size, or theological depth of guided material, and on all three Hallow would almost certainly win. We have also not independently audited Hallow's prayer-families feature beyond what their own site describes.
Pricing
iToro is free to download and free to use, with an optional premium subscription that removes limits. Hallow offers a free tier and a paid Hallow+ subscription; their features page advertises a 30-day free trial but did not publish a price on the date we checked. Check the App Store or Google Play listing for current pricing in your region, since both apps price per store and per country.
